A 2011 Dodge SRT Challenger…392 Hemi car, with a 6 speed manual. Built by a Dodge dealership in PA in cooperation with Dodge as a tribute to the anniversary of the movie Vanishing Point. Only 10 were built and individually serialized, I owned #4 of the 10. I was the first owner. The “Kowalski” edition Challenger came all white as in the movie with a couple of cool upgrades such as quad exhaust tips that copied the ‘70 Challenger’s, a pistol grip shifter and a few other upgrades. A very, very, fast car. First year of the 392 Hemi, though quickly overshadowed by what Dodge subsequently stuffed in to the Challenger a few years later! My only modern collector car, though I quickly went back to vintage after a little over a year.

And then…a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. Bought it in partnership with a friend for use in a “vintage car only” 1000 mile Road Rally in the upper mid-west. One of the last to be equipped with the Pontiac 400 engine, a 4 speed car with AC. Perfect to travel in a vintage rally in style. Bright Blue with the gold screaming eagle on the hood. Bought it on E-bay for almost nothing, then promptly put a ton in to it as problems surfaced before and after the event. A great car now, my partner bought me out after we were done with it and still has the car today. Remarkably, of all the cars that I have had, this one easily got the most reaction from people no matter where I took it. Everyone wanted to tell me a story of a friend that had one in High School and how much fun the car was. They are fun cars, not a lot of horsepower but still pretty quick and handled amazingly well for such a large car!
